About Council

Florida Regional Council is one of twenty-two regional councils within the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). The council’s purpose is to:

  • Further the objectives of the IMA and its members
  • Promote and facilitate cooperation and communication between chapters
  • Provide a means to pool resources to assist chapters with attaining their objectives and goals

Each council consists of:

  • Board of Directors, based upon election
  • Delegates who are IMA Chapter representative(s), selected by the Chapter as well as permanent delegates of the Council
  • IMA members wishing to participate and attend Council events

The Florida Council represents eight (8) IMA Chapters throughout the peninsula of Florida and Southeast Georgia serving approximately 1,200 members.  The following are our Chapters and some principal cities in their respective areas:

  • Southwest Florida (Naples-Ft. Myers-Cape Coral)
  • South Florida (Miami-Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood)
  • Palm Beach (Boca Raton-West Palm Beach-Vero Beach)
  • Tampa Bay (Clearwater-Tampa-St. Petersburg)
  • Polk County (Lakeland-Winter Haven)
  • Mid-Florida (Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford-Melbourne-Titusville-Daytona Beach)
  • Jacksonville (Jacksonville-St. Augustine-Gainesville-Valdosta)
  • Savannah (Savannah-Statesboro)

The Council has a special emphasis of supporting students pursuing a career in professional accounting and promoting and supporting accounting educators in their curriculum of managerial accounting.
